Mono print onto silk georgette crinkle. This fabric is a little pricey but it has fabulous drape qualities. The mono print was based on the expressional mark making techniques during my design development stage.  I have just begun to add coordinating hand stitches in the same colours and style.

 

 

Capturing movement in fabrics. Fabric manipulation techniques using embroidery - tucks and ruffles. I have also been experimenting with wire to create more dramatic shapes.

 

 

The Ones to Watch exhibition at Sunny Bank Mill Gallery has launched tonight and will be running for the next six weeks. My capsule collection, Nature Outcasts, is in a great location right at the front of the gallery and the first thing seen as you enter.

It has been a lovely evening and very pleasing to see my work displayed in a public space. There are lots of interesting works coming from across the different university and college students that are showing here.

 

Had an interesting and educative talk with artist Hannah Lamb this evening at South Square Gallery  Thornton, Bradford. Some exciting opportunities and exhibitions coming up across Bradford and Leeds in the next few months.

Apologies for my absence, I have been very busy. I have recently completed a two week placement at Hallmark Cards which was very exciting!
My current Fantasia project for my degree collection is well underway......
I have been looking at fluidity and movement in dance based on the Waltz of the Flowers scenery and music from Fantasia 1940.

 

Experimentation with inks and brusho

Here is my Hallmark project (a little later than expected!). Working on a live brief to create a textile inspired piece of art for imagery on cards. I call this project 'Emily and Friends.' The theme came about as I thought of my personal mishaps throughout my college life and how I have close dependable friends who are always there to help me out! The locations of the photography are sort of an inside joke between myself and fellow students, places that are of common interest to both us and students alike.

 

The little knitted character's were a pleasure to make, a pattern created by myself. The cards fall into the category for friendship cards and I think I succeeded in making them quite different to what you can find in the high street stores today. Typically girly, pink and glittery is not me, nor my friends and the colours and scenery reflect this. These cheeky little ladies spent a day having a photo shoot all around Bradford College and very much enjoyed it (hence the constant smiles). A fast paced four week project well spent.
