I have been kept busy over the past week with finalising my 'Nature Outcasts' project and exhibiting at Knit and Stitch Harrogate!

Theses are some of my samples for this finished project. It has been a real joy  working with something 'different' - paper as opposed to fabric. This  tortoise wallpaper has been screen printed and hand embroidered, simple techniques creating a beautiful effect.

Digitally printed wallpapers designed from scanned hand drawn imagery and photographs. Large scale designs that compliment the collection. I received lots of positive feedback at Knit and Stitch for my wallpapers...
"Stunning..."
"Beautiful..."
A real pleasure to see my hard work has been worth it :)

Theses little guys received lots of attention at Knit and Stitch and sold very well. Thank you to all who purchased one and aided in funding for the New Designers London exhibition.

Such a positive response from well wishers and like minded artists and crafts people. The show was a great success! A lovely crowd of people and definitely worth a trip next year if you missed out this time.

Work in the studio is going great...
I have been working with blowing paints to create the brambles. Theses designs have since been made into screens for printing.

A view of my sampling and techniques so far... Mixed media paper with fabric and embroidery detail. I have been looking a lot at composition and working on large scale pieces which would be of appropriate scale for interiors.

Sampling for backgrounds using colours found in my photography. I have used natural dyes and plant matter to create these colours read for sampling of my textures.

A first sample collaging many of the different pieces I have looked at up to date. The intended use of my sampling is for wallpapers and coordinating fabrics with subtle embroidery details. I think the composition of this piece is great and seeing all the colours working together is fantastic.

Some of my early drawings from this project looking at line, texture and composition.

The image below was created using dripping paints over a damp cartridge paper background. I wanted to create shadows and uniformity but having a randomness to line depth and thickness at the same time.

My favourite still life drawing of my tortoise working in pencil. I want my designs to remain realistic with only a small part interpretation of textures.
